A mystery shopper investigation by the FCA in 2018, found that only 11 dealerships out of 122 correctly disclosed the commissions they earned to the customer. Car dealership sales teams often set their own interest rates; the higher the rate, the higher the commission they received. The FCA banned this practice in Jan 2021 as it was a clear conflict of interest and provided unfair terms to the customer.
We have reviewed many thousands of potential claims around car finance redress. Often, it appears that the car finance deal is fit for purpose. However, it’s how the deal was put together in the background that hides the inappropriate practices of those arranging the finance.
Don’t worry if you can’t find all this information, all we need to start our process of identifying if you have a potential claim is some personal details, proof of address and your finance agreement, or details.

There was a slight hiccup whereby i was asked to submit identification documents twice, but when i pointed out that i had already submitted the documents i received an email apology straight away. Apart from this i have found everything satisfactory so far. Personnel have been helpful and are keeping me informed of any developments.

Hidden Fees on Your PCP?
Personal Contract Purchase (PCP) agreements stand as the prevailing financial product for purchasing a car. Providing finance for vehicles for the majority of consumers, these agreements typically involve an initial deposit payment, followed by ongoing monthly payments, and culminating in a final ‘balloon’ payment.
Furthermore, if you entered into such an agreement within the last 10 years, you’re potentially eligible for redress in this matter.
Barings Law specializes in consumer redress and manages cases for numerous clients across various claim types.
